What Is Boursin Cheese?
Boursin is a delightful cheese that is quite similar to American cream cheese. It’s a delicious mix of fresh cream and soft cheese beautifully flavoured with different herbs, spices, and Garlic.
I first discovered Boursin at Trader Joe’s, where I found it at the best price among grocery stores. Unlike the cheese used on nachos, which needs to have a melty effect, Boursin excels in dishes like sauces, soups, or even spread on toast due to its easily blended ability.
Boursin’s versatility makes it a staple in my kitchen, whether I’m whipping up a quick pasta or adding a creamy touch to my recipes.
Why you’ll love this boursin tomato pasta:
• Versatile recipe: This dish is more of an idea you can customize. Start with essential ingredients like protein, fresh veggies, and your favourite type of pasta.
• Minimal prep meal: Perfect for busy weeknights, this dish requires minimal hands-on time. Pop it in the oven for 30 minutes, and you’re done.
• Seasonally delicious recipe: This dish is delicious when cherry tomatoes are at their best in the summer. We grow them in our garden and get extra from our weekly CSA box, adding fantastic flavour. You can even enhance the tomato taste with sundried tomatoes.
• Kid-friendly: Everyone loves cheesy pasta, and this dish is no exception. If your kid prefers separate foods, serve a deconstructed portion with roasted tomatoes, spinach, and a chunk of Boursin cheese on the side, allowing them to explore the different ingredients.
Ingredients
1. Boil the Pasta: Start by boiling your pasta. Any shape will work, but short pasta is best for getting a bit of everything in each bite. Once cooked, set the pasta aside.
2. Prepare the Baking Dish: Combine your ingredients in a baking dish. Add Boursin Cheese (I use the garlic and herb flavour from Trader Joe’s), grape tomatoes (you can cut them in half or leave them whole), and four or five cloves of Garlic.
3. Add Olive Oil: Drizzle olive oil over the ingredients in the baking dish. This will prevent them from burning while they bake.
4. Season with Spices: Sprinkle oregano and Italian sofrito over the dish. The Italian sofrito mixes crispy onions, sun-dried tomatoes, sea salt, Garlic, red peppers, parsley, rosemary, and sage.
5. Bake: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake until the ingredients are well combined and the cheese is melted.
6. Add Fresh Basil: During baking, use half of the 1.5 ounces of fresh basil. Add the remaining half to the dish for a fresh finish once the dish is done.
7. Combine and Serve: Mix the boiled pasta with the baked mixture. Ensure everything is evenly distributed so you get a perfect bite every time.
Enjoy your tomato basil boursin pasta with its rich blend of flavours from the pasta, Boursin cheese, tomatoes, basil, Garlic, olive oil, and various spices.
